Security forces successfully thwarted an armed assault on the under-construction Benazir Bhutto Medical College campus near Dera Murad Jamali, leaving three suspected terrorists injured. The prompt response prevented any casualties among college personnel, students, or security staff.
According to government officials, the attackers arrived at the campus with the intent to carry out a targeted assault. Police and security forces quickly surrounded the area, engaging the terrorists in a heavy exchange of fire that lasted several minutes. The operation also involved the strategic use of drones to monitor and respond to the attackers’ movements.
Despite being injured, the assailants managed to retreat from the scene along with their wounded accomplices. Authorities confirmed that no damage occurred to the campus infrastructure and no civilians were harmed during the incident.
Officials emphasized that the operation reflects the high level of preparedness and coordination of Pakistan’s security forces in countering terrorist threats, particularly in protecting educational institutions and public spaces. “The rapid and coordinated action of our security personnel prevented a potentially devastating attack,” a senior official stated.
Investigations into the attack are ongoing, and security agencies are reviewing intelligence to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent future incidents. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges posed by extremist elements in Balochistan and the unwavering commitment of security forces to maintain law and order.
