The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have been equipped with state-of-the-art technology to enhance their operational capacity in the ongoing fight against terrorism. A formal handover ceremony was held at the Central Police Office, Peshawar, where Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, distributed modern weapons and advanced surveillance equipment among various districts and specialized units of the police force.
Senior police officials were present on the occasion. The IGP handed over 147 SKUA binoculars, 363 Thermal Weapon Mounted Sights (TWS), 10 M249 heavy machine guns, and 4 anti-drone guns to police representatives from different districts of the province.
With the help of these advanced thermal sights and binoculars, the KP Police will now be able to detect human movement and vehicle activity from a distance of up to four kilometres during nighttime operations. The enhanced capability is expected to significantly improve the force’s ability to anticipate and counter potential terrorist threats through early detection and timely response.
During the ceremony, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed handed an EMG-300 anti-drone gun to DPO North Waziristan, Waqar Ahmad, and an M249 heavy machine gun to Deputy Commandant Elite Force, Aslam Nawaz Khan. Anti-drone guns were also provided to the Bajaur and Bannu police units to effectively neutralize potential drone threats.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed said, “Equipping the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police with modern technology is the need of the hour to effectively counter evolving terrorist tactics. These thermal sights and advanced weapons will greatly enhance the police’s operational efficiency and night-time defence capabilities.”
It is noteworthy that, through the dedicated efforts of IGP Zulfiqar Hameed, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police continue to be strengthened with cutting-edge technology and modern equipment, ensuring a stronger, more effective force in the province’s fight against terrorism.
