A video circulating on social media has raised alarm after showing an individual identified as “Saddam, alias Abu Dharr,” addressing a cricket match in Khyber district as a guest, suggesting the presence of facilitators of the so-called “Fitna al-Khawarij” in the region. On October 10, 2025, the Director General ISPR, during a press conference in Peshawar, had warned facilitators of the militants to either surrender them to the state, vacate their areas temporarily to enable security operations, or be ready to face action.
Reports indicate that some locals may have aligned themselves with extremist influence for personal or criminal gain, including protection of narcotics trade networks. Security observers warn that such complicity could drag the entire area into renewed instability and destruction if unchecked.
Despite repeated warnings, local jirgas are reportedly still inclined towards dialogue with the militants, a move seen by analysts as ineffective given the militants’ past record of violence and betrayal of assurances. Authorities and community leaders are being urged to show resolve and support decisive measures against extremist infiltration instead of succumbing to fear or vested interests.
The statement also cautions against political patronage of individuals linked to extremist groups, stressing that personal interests must not override public security. Officials reiterate that the options given by the DG ISPR earlier this month remain valid and that action will follow where facilitation persists.
Law enforcement agencies have been asked to intensify efforts to identify and dismantle networks supporting extremist activity in Khyber and Tirah, while citizens are urged to cooperate with authorities and report any such facilitation.
