In a swift and decisive counter-terrorism response, Hangu police avenged their fallen comrades within hours of a deadly attack that martyred senior officers earlier in the day. The retaliatory operation targeted the perpetrators behind the explosions that struck Ghalmeena check-post, killing Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations and two other policemen.
According to police officials, the operation was launched in the Doaba area following intelligence reports pinpointing the terrorists’ hideout. During the exchange of fire, two militants linked to the earlier blasts were killed, while a police officer sustained injuries. The slain terrorists were affiliated with India-backed extremist networks that had long enjoyed covert facilitation from across the western border until the Doha ceasefire agreement.
Security forces have expanded the search operation to eliminate any remaining elements connected with the recent attacks. Authorities say the action reflects the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies to root out foreign-sponsored terrorism that continues to target Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s security personnel and civilians alike.
The Hangu tragedy, followed by the police’s swift retaliation, underscores both the persistent threats confronting the province and the extraordinary courage of those who confront them head-on.
