Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, paid an official visit to Romania where he met with the Chief of the Romanian Air Force, Lieutenant General Leonard-Gabriel Baraboi. The visit aimed to further strengthen bilateral defence relations and explore new avenues of cooperation between the two air forces.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), upon his arrival at the Romanian Air Force Headquarters, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Romanian Air Force.
During the meeting, both air chiefs held comprehensive discussions on enhancing operational collaboration. The dialogue encompassed a wide range of areas, including joint air exercises, exchange programs, and advanced training for air and ground personnel.
The two sides also exchanged views on the prevailing regional security environment and underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation for global and regional stability.
Lieutenant General Baraboi lauded the professional excellence of the Pakistan Air Force, particularly acknowledging its operational competence and successful defensive measures against external aggression. He also appreciated the Air Chief’s visionary leadership in fostering indigenous defence capabilities and promoting self-reliance in the aviation sector.
Both air chiefs agreed to establish robust institutional mechanisms to ensure sustainable cooperation in addressing emerging air defence challenges. They also deliberated on expanding the scope of collaboration between the two air forces, with particular focus on potential partnerships in modern aerospace technologies and defence industrial ventures.
