In a major counter-terrorism success, Pakistan Army troops foiled a large-scale infiltration attempt from across the Afghan border in Mohmand District, killing between 45 and 50 terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Khawarij.
According to security sources, the terrorists attempted to exploit the recently announced ceasefire to infiltrate Pakistani territory and launch coordinated attacks. Acting on precise intelligence, security forces swiftly launched an intelligence-based operation (IBO), surrounding the infiltrators and engaging them in an intense and prolonged exchange of fire.
“Pakistan’s armed forces will never allow any terrorist to violate our borders or exploit peace initiatives,” a senior security official said, reaffirming the country’s firm resolve to defend its sovereignty and eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism.
During the fierce gun battle, 45 to 50 militants were killed while several others sustained serious injuries. The Pakistan Army has cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive sanitization and clearance operation to eliminate any remaining threat.
Footage from reconnaissance drones captured prior to the engagement confirmed the movement of militants from across the border, establishing that the group had originated from Afghan territory and was attempting to penetrate Pakistani soil for terror activities.
Security officials described the operation as a “clear message” to terrorist elements and their foreign backers that Pakistan’s borders are inviolable and any attempt to infiltrate or destabilize the country will be met with an immediate and lethal response.
This operation, part of Pakistan’s ongoing campaign under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, underscores the military’s unrelenting commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
