In Pakistan’s terrorism‑affected provinces; especially in Balochistan and notably in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the unity between security forces and local communities in the fight against militants continues to deepen. After concerted efforts in Tank, South Waziristan, Kurram, and Dera Ismail Khan, now the people of North Waziristan and Bajaur districts have also taken a stand alongside the Pakistani armed forces in this war against terror.

According to sources, today in Tehsil Shiwa, a significant peace jirga was convened under the chairmanship of the local unit commander and attended by the malik (tribal leader) and elders of the Zallol Khel tribe. In this assembly, detailed discussions were held on further strengthening security arrangements in the area.

During the meeting, participants focused on establishing lasting peace and order, eliminating extremist elements, and keeping them away from civilian settlements. On this occasion, various proposals were made for stringent legal action against facilitators of militancy.

The commander assured the elders that ongoing development projects in the area would soon be completed, promising direct benefits for the local population.

The jirga concluded with collective prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

In Tehsil Dossali, the local brigade commander also met with respected figures of the area. In that meeting, emphasis was placed on restoring law and order, discouraging nefarious elements, and dismantling their networks.

The brigade commander said that for sustainable peace, the cooperation of the public is indispensable. He urged all religious sects to prevent the misuse of mosques for negative activities, and encouraged the younger generation to play a positive role in nation building.

He appealed to the public to assist security forces actively by identifying terrorists and their facilitators, so that full peace and stability can be ensured in the region.

Furthermore, the people of the Dewaghar area of Tehsil Ghulam Khan also pledged full cooperation to the Pakistan Army.

Earlier, in the spirit of public service, the Pakistan Army distributed special free ration packages among the needy. This initiative aimed to support deserving individuals, promote their welfare, and boost their morale.

Beyond North Waziristan, a grand jirga was held in the village of Gabri in Bajaur to review law and order and security measures. Numerous elders, national maliks, and tribal notables from the area participated.

During the jirga, after peace was restored in Gabri, security arrangements were scrutinised in detail. On that occasion, security force officers highlighted the significance of the area and the need for sustainable peace and urged local people to fully play their part in maintaining the peace in their locality.

Security forces appealed to national elders to keep vigilant watch over their territories and report any suspicious activity or individuals promptly to the relevant forces so that any untoward event can be dealt with in time.

The local elders assured full cooperation with security forces, vowing to do everything possible to keep their area completely free from terrorism and malicious acts.

The jirga ended with mutual trust, cooperation, and a firm commitment to peace.
