In a major counterterrorism breakthrough, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Khyber District neutralized three key terrorists affiliated with the Islamic State Khorasan Province (IS-KP), including the masterminds behind the deadly Ring Road suicide bombing. However, local IS-KP commander Fazal Noor managed to escape under the cover of darkness along with several accomplices.

According to security sources, the CTD received credible intelligence indicating the presence of Fazal Noor and other IS-KP operatives in the Lala Cheena Dossarke area near Ali Masjid. The group was reportedly planning a large-scale terrorist attack.

Acting swiftly, CTD’s SWAT team, equipped with modern weaponry, moved to intercept the suspects. As the team reached the location, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a heavy exchange that lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Following the gun battle, a search and clearance operation was launched. During the sweep, three terrorists were found dead. Among the deceased were Muhammad Naeem alias Abdul Nasir and Muhammad Kareem, both residents of Karak and identified as masterminds behind the Ring Road suicide bombing.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of significant arms and ammunition, including three submachine guns (SMGs), twelve magazines loaded with 135 rounds, and three hand grenades.

Despite the success, Fazal Noor and other terrorists managed to flee the scene in the darkness. A follow-up search operation is currently underway to apprehend the fugitives.

The CTD has vowed to continue its operations until all remaining members of the IS-KP cell are brought to justice and the threat is fully neutralized.
