Israel Strikes Hamas Leaders in Qatar with U.S. Support; Global Condemnations Emerge

Israeli fighter jets, with U.S. assistance, carried out a strike in Qatar targeting senior Hamas leaders, according to Israeli media. The U.S. Embassy in Qatar has advised American citizens to remain in safe shelters.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), in coordination with intelligence agency Shin Bet and the Air Force, confirmed the attack, claiming that only the intended targets were hit without civilian casualties. Israel stated the Hamas leaders targeted were directly involved in the October 7 attacks and long-running militant activities.

Al Arabiya reported that several top Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, Mohammed Darwish, Mousa Abu Marzouk, Hussam Badran, Khaled Mashal, and Zaher Jabarin, were killed in the strike.

The White House confirmed that Israel had briefed President Trump and his administration shortly before the strike. Trump expressed regret that such an attack occurred on the soil of a “strong U.S. ally” like Qatar, while thanking Doha for its continued partnership.

Hamas condemned the strike but said its stance in ongoing negotiations remained unchanged, accusing Israel of undermining peace. Qatar denied being notified beforehand, insisting the U.S. only contacted them after explosions were heard.

Saudi Arabia pledged full support to Qatar, warning of severe consequences, while the UN Secretary-General condemned the attack as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law
