Pakistan Played Frontline Role In Global War Against Terrorism: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said Pakistan has played the role of a frontline state in the global war against terrorism, rendering immense sacrifices to defeat the menace. In his message on the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, the prime minister paid homage to those affected by acts of terror and expressed solidarity with survivors across the world. “Pakistan today stands united with the international community in remembering the victims of terrorism,” he stated.

Shehbaz Sharif said the nation’s solidarity with the victims reflects its sincere national sentiment, noting that citizens of all ages, alongside the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, fought bravely against terrorism. He stressed that Pakistan confronted the scourge with courage, determination, and sacrifice, eventually defeating it despite immense odds.

“Terrorist attacks could not weaken our resolve for peace and prosperity, nor undermine our national dignity,” he said, recalling that Pakistan sacrificed nearly 90,000 precious lives in the struggle, while also suffering significant economic losses.

The prime minister noted that every city, town, street, market, and school in Pakistan bears witness to the painful stories of victims, yet the nation stands tall with pride over its resilience. He added that the younger generation is growing up with a renewed determination to safeguard the country’s security.

Highlighting the efforts of the state, Shehbaz Sharif said both federal and provincial governments, as well as law enforcement and intelligence agencies, remain committed to eliminating terrorism. He pointed to Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, and a series of intelligence-based operations that thwarted countless terrorist plots.

“Our civil and military intelligence agencies foiled numerous attempts that could have caused large-scale tragedies,” he said, while saluting the martyrs and victims of terrorism and praising the institutions that have been at the forefront of this struggle.

The prime minister underlined that the National Action Plan serves as a comprehensive strategy against terrorism, combining ideological, administrative, institutional, and narrative fronts to ensure an integrated response. “National unity and resolve in the fight against terrorism are the guarantees of peace, security, development, and prosperity,” Shehbaz Sharif concluded.
