In response to the deteriorating security situation in North Waziristan, the Deputy Commissioner has issued a security advisory directing all heads of government departments; including administration, health, education, and banking institutions, to adopt strict protective measures and conceal their identities where necessary.
The advisory underscores growing concerns over repeated militant activity in the area, echoing the wave of violence seen across other newly merged and southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Security forces have been actively engaged in multiple intelligence-based operations, neutralising several militants associated with outlawed terror groups.
Just five days ago, three militants were killed and another three injured during a targeted operation by security forces. The sustained counter-terror operations reflect the escalating efforts to dismantle militant networks entrenched in the region.
On August 8, militants used a quad-copter to target innocent children, tragically resulting in the martyrdom of an eight-year-old girl, Afia. The incident drew widespread condemnation and highlighted the evolving tactics of militant groups.
Earlier, on August 6, three militants were killed while attempting to attack a security convoy. On August 1, security forces conducted a series of operations in which five militants were killed and six others injured. That same day, three more were neutralized in a separate operation in Tehsil Datta Khel.
In a significant action on July 29, the house of a top khariji commander was demolished in Saidgai village, sending a strong message to the network’s leadership. A day earlier, on July 28, two more militants were killed, and on July 23, eight militants were eliminated while attempting to infiltrate the Pak-Afghan border.
These repeated engagements indicate a sustained military push to reestablish control and suppress terrorist activity in the region. However, officials stress that the situation remains fluid, and all public servants must adhere strictly to security protocols.
The Deputy Commissioner has urged all government officials and institutions to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary exposure, and coordinate closely with local law enforcement for any movement or operational activity.
Security forces remain on high alert, with further operations expected in the coming days as part of an intensified effort to restore peace in North Waziristan and its surrounding areas.
