In a remarkable display of unity and courage, local residents and police forces in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, successfully repelled a late-night terrorist attack on Havid Police Station by militants from the outlawed group known as Fitna al-Khawarij.
According to sources, the militants launched an armed assault on the station, but police officers responded swiftly. The sound of gunfire alerted nearby residents, who rushed to support the police. Their presence forced the attackers to flee the scene.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan, and DPO Bannu Saleem Abbas Kalachi commended the officers for their quick, brave response and thanked the local population for their timely support.
Residents of Havid have reaffirmed their commitment to peace and declared that no terrorist group or armed outfit will be allowed to operate in their area. They expressed full solidarity with the police and vowed to sacrifice whatever it takes to protect their homeland.
DPO Saleem Abbas Kalachi emphasized that the bond between the police and public is the biggest threat to terrorists. He added, “If this cooperation continues, the day is not far when these enemies of peace will be eliminated not just from Bannu or KP, but from the entire country.”
Lakki Marwat: Police Escape IED Attack Unharmed
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Lakki Marwat, an IED explosion targeted a police armoured vehicle near Wanda Shuja on Mianwali Road. The police team was returning from a raid against wanted criminals when the device detonated. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though the vehicle sustained damage.
Police officials noted that despite the apparent inability of militant groups to conduct large-scale attacks; due to ongoing intelligence-based operations in the southern and merged districts, they are still targeting soft sites such as police stations and patrol units.
The local population, fed up with continued threats and unrest, is now demanding stronger and more decisive actions from the government and security forces to eliminate these anti-state elements once and for all.
