Azerbaijan’s Chief of General Staff, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi, where the two military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, including the prevailing global and regional security situation. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Colonel General Karim Valiyev lauded the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and successes during the “Operation Haq” campaign. He, along with his delegation, conveyed best wishes to Pakistan on its Independence and Victory Day celebrations. Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leadership and people for their steadfast support during “Operation Haq” and for dispatching an Azerbaijani contingent to participate in Pakistan’s Independence Day parade.
In a significant gesture, Colonel General Karim Valiyev presented Field Marshal Asim Munir with the Patriotic War Medal for Services to Military Cooperation on behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The medal represents Azerbaijan’s highest military recognition for Field Marshal Munir’s outstanding contributions to strengthening defence ties between the two countries.
The Azerbaijani Chief of General Staff also commended Pakistan’s unwavering efforts in combating terrorism and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in defence and security sectors. He expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s warm hospitality and its consistent support to Azerbaijan.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Colonel General Karim Valiyev was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army. He also laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument) to pay tribute to Pakistan’s fallen heroes.
