Bajaur’s Salarzai Tribe Vows Zero Tolerance for Terrorism in Landmark Jirga

The Salarzai tribe of Bajaur on Monday unanimously resolved in a landmark jirga that no individual or group would be allowed to disturb peace or engage in acts of terrorism within their area. The jirga, attended by tribal elders, religious scholars, and local notables, was convened in Salarzai tehsil to discuss the region’s security situation and reaffirm the community’s commitment to safeguarding peace. Participants reached a consensus that the stability and safety of the area would remain their top priority.

In a statement issued after the jirga, the Salarzai elders made it clear that terrorists would be denied shelter under any circumstances. “Any person found providing refuge or assistance to such elements will face immediate expulsion from the area,” the declaration read.

The elders further stated that the people of Salarzai stand united in protecting their homeland from all threats, and that the collective will of the community will not allow the return of violence that had previously plagued the region. They emphasised that traditional tribal unity, combined with vigilance and cooperation with the authorities, would be instrumental in ensuring long-term peace.

The jirga participants also called upon neighbouring tribes and the wider Bajaur community to adopt a similar stance, stressing that peace in the region is a shared responsibility that requires solidarity, discipline, and zero tolerance for those who undermine it.
