The anticipated visit of Taliban-appointed Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to Pakistan has been postponed, a Kabul-based media outlet reports citing sources in Kabul.
The visit, which was initially slated for Monday, August 4, was reportedly delayed due to unspecified “technical issues.” Muttaqi was expected to travel to Islamabad for a three-day official trip.
The invitation for the visit had been extended by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during his April visit to Kabul.
Previous reports in Pakistani outlets suggested that Muttaqi was scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Dar, and other senior officials to discuss matters of political cooperation, economic ties, and regional security.
As of now, no new date has been set for the visit. It is important to note that neither Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) nor any relevant Pakistani authorities have officially confirmed the postponement.
