Tribal Jirga Secures Safe Recovery of Abducted Bank Employees in North Waziristan

In a major breakthrough attributed to traditional conflict resolution, a tribal jirga successfully secured the safe and unconditional release of three abducted bank employees who had gone missing from the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan.

According to official sources, the recovered individuals include Jameel Anwar Shah, Branch Manager of Bank Alfalah Miranshah, Hayat, a staff member of UBL, and their driver Neta Nail. The trio was abducted at gunpoint by unidentified armed men near the Harmuz area while returning to Bannu from duty in Miranshah aboard a Hiace vehicle.

Following the abduction, the Deputy Commissioner of North Waziristan constituted a tribal jirga tasked with initiating dialogue with the captors. Through sustained and strategic negotiations, the jirga succeeded in convincing the abductors to release the hostages without any conditions. All three individuals were safely reunited with their families in Bannu.

The local leadership and peace stakeholders have widely lauded the jirga’s efforts, acknowledging it as a significant contribution to restoring public confidence, safeguarding lives, and reinforcing the traditional mechanisms for peacebuilding in the region.

Authorities praised the role of community elders, stating that such successful interventions demonstrate the enduring value of indigenous conflict resolution practices in ensuring security and stability in tribal districts.
