Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed a major counterterrorism breakthrough as security forces neutralized four militants in two high-impact intelligence-based operations — one in Swat and the other in Hangu — striking a severe blow to terrorist networks in the region.
In Swat’s Parrai area (Thana Ghaligay), the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) launched a precision operation following actionable intelligence. As the team approached the target, terrorists opened fire. In the swift retaliatory action, three highly wanted terrorists were eliminated. The slain militants were identified as:
Ajmal alias Waqas (carrying a bounty of Rs. 2 million), resident of Malkabad, Mingora
Matiullah alias Ishaq alias Junaid, resident of Dub Sar, Shangla
Rahimullah alias Roohullah, originally from Nuristan, Afghanistan
The trio was wanted in multiple cases of murder, attempted murder, targeted killings, and terrorism. The operation led to the recovery of heavy weapons, explosive materials, and hand grenades. All CTD personnel remained safe, and a search operation in the area is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, in a separate gunbattle in Torawari, Hangu, terrorists ambushed police vehicles with heavy weaponry during a raid based on intelligence provided by a captured militant. In the exchange of fire, one terrorist was shot dead, while others managed to escape towards nearby hills. Fortunately, all police officers emerged unscathed.
The back-to-back successful operations have sent a strong message to terror outfits: no militant is beyond the reach of Pakistan’s security forces.
