Railway Track Blown Up in Sibi, Bolan Mail Coach Damaged in Targeted Bomb Attack

A powerful explosion ripped through the railway track between Bakhthiarabad and Damboli in Sibi district, targeting the Karachi-to-Quetta Bolan Mail and partially damaging one of its coaches. Railway authorities confirmed that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), in what is being seen as a deliberate act of sabotage against Pakistan’s critical rail infrastructure.

According to the Station Master, the explosive device detonated as the Bolan Mail was passing over the affected section of the track, resulting in partial damage to Coach No. 7. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Swift response from railway officials and security personnel helped secure the site and prevent further damage.

Railway authorities stated that the track heading toward Quetta was immediately closed, and clearance operations are currently underway. The train will resume its journey once the route is declared safe.

Security forces, along with bomb disposal units, cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident. The nature of the explosives and the method of detonation are being examined, while efforts are ongoing to trace the perpetrators behind the attack.

The incident highlights the growing threats to vital national infrastructure in Balochistan, where railway lines serve as a critical lifeline for passenger and cargo movement across the province. Officials condemned the attack and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing security protocols along vulnerable railway corridors.

This attack on the Bolan Mail is the latest in a series of attempts to destabilize the region through sabotage of public infrastructure. Authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice and ensure uninterrupted railway operations across the province.
