FC Soldier Martyred in Midnight Attack on Checkpost in Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan

A Frontier Corps (FC) soldier was martyred in a brazen overnight attack by unidentified gunmen at a forest checkpost in the Thor area of Diamer district, Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to local police, the incident occurred around 2:30 AM when assailants opened indiscriminate fire at the Thor Forest Checkpost, resulting in the martyrdom of FC personnel Muhammad Gul Sher, a native of Dera Ismail Khan. The attackers managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness.

Police say the motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this stage. However, forensic teams have collected evidence from the site, and a formal investigation is underway.

In response to the incident, security has been tightened at the checkpost and surrounding areas. A manhunt has also been launched to track down the perpetrators
