Libyan Armed Forces Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir to Boost Defence Ties

Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday. The high-level meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional dynamics, pressing security challenges, and avenues for enhanced defence cooperation between the two nations.

During the interaction, both leaders underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral military ties and agreed to undertake joint initiatives in defence industrial collaboration. They also discussed mechanisms for the exchange of technical expertise to effectively address contemporary security threats.

Upon arrival at GHQ, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honour the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs. He was received with a warm welcome and presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army. The visit signifies growing military engagement between Pakistan and Libya, aimed at fostering regional stability and shared strategic interests.
