In a brazen attack on law enforcement, unidentified assailants ambushed a police convoy travelling from Wana to Tehsil Toi Khullah, critically injuring a senior officer and leaving one police constable missing. The incident has triggered a high-level security response in the region. According to police sources, the convoy came under sudden gunfire in a remote area, resulting in serious injuries to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rakhmin. The officer was rushed to a medical facility where he remains under intensive care.
A second officer, identified as a police constable accompanying the DSP, was reported missing in the immediate aftermath of the attack. Search and rescue operations have been launched to locate the missing personnel, while reinforcements from police and security forces have been deployed to secure the area.
Police have confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been formally initiated, with multiple units tasked to trace the attackers. Preliminary assessments suggest the possibility of a targeted strike aimed at undermining law enforcement operations in the volatile tribal belt.
Security has been placed on high alert across South Waziristan, as authorities brace for potential follow-up threats. Checkpoints have been reinforced, and intelligence-gathering efforts intensified.
Officials vowed that such acts of violence against state personnel would not weaken the resolve of law enforcement agencies. “This attack strengthens our commitment to eliminate all enemies of peace operating in the region,” the police spokesperson added.
