In a landmark step to counter the rising use of drone warfare by militant outfits, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has successfully inducted advanced anti-drone technology into its arsenal, significantly boosting its operational readiness in high-threat regions. Police sources confirmed that the latest anti-drone systems part of a new shipment of modern tactical equipment following the deployment of thermal imaging guns—have been handed over to the provincial force. The breakthrough technology is designed to intercept, jam, and neutralize hostile drones and quadcopters frequently used by terrorists to target security personnel and civilians.
The initial phase of deployment is underway in key conflict-prone districts including Bajaur, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Kurram areas that have witnessed a disturbing uptick in drone-assisted terrorist attacks. Senior police officials emphasized that this move represents a paradigm shift in the province’s counter-terrorism strategy. “The ability to detect and disable enemy drones mid-air through signal jamming and electronic warfare not only closes a critical security gap but also sends a strong message that the state is fully equipped to defeat modern methods of militancy,” a top official noted.
The introduction of anti-drone technology is expected to significantly reduce the operational freedom of terror networks attempting to exploit aerial platforms for reconnaissance, targeting, or psychological warfare. With this strategic upgrade, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has positioned itself at the forefront of counterterrorism innovation in Pakistan, reinforcing its commitment to protecting citizens and frontline personnel from evolving threats in the digital battlefield.
