In a powerful public stand against terrorism, a father from Kot Isa Khan in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has publicly disowned his son for joining khawarij ranks, declaring that he has no ties left with him, in life or in death.
The man, whose video message has since gone viral across social media, identified his son as Siddique, a khariji affiliated with the outlawed TTP or Fitna al-Khawarij, as declared by the state, and urged state authorities to arrest or eliminate him without hesitation.
“My son Siddique is a terrorist aligned with Fitna al-Khawarij. The army may arrest or kill him, I have no objection,” the father said in a firm, emotionally charged message. “I no longer consider him my son. I don’t want to see him, nor will I attend his funeral.”
A Community Rejects Extremism
The message comes as part of a growing wave of rejection against Khawarij by locals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who have borne the brunt of terrorist violence for years.
Residents in Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas have increasingly come forward to condemn violent ideologies, with many praising the father’s courage as a symbol of KP’s shifting social stance against terrorism.
“If he can’t honour the dignity of my old age, why should I honour him??” the father added. “Let the government take him away, I have no ties with him anymore.”
Symbol of a Turning Tide
The father’s declaration is being seen as a symbolic break between local communities and terrorist elements, who once relied on silence or fear to thrive. Security officials have acknowledged the importance of community resistance in counter-terrorism, noting that this social defiance is as critical as military action in uprooting terrorism.
This public act of disowning a radicalised family member has been widely shared with messages of support, with many hailing it as an example of moral clarity in the face of violent extremism.
