Nine Indian-Backed Khawarij Killed in Counter-terror Operations Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Indian-Backed Khawarij, intelligence-based operations, Indian-backed networks

Security forces killed nine Indian-backed khawarij in three separate intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 24 and 25, the military said on Sunday.

The operations were carried out in the Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Khyber districts following confirmed intelligence reports of khawarij presence in the areas. The slain khawarij, described by security officials as being linked to Indian-backed networks, were reportedly involved in multiple terror incidents in the region.

In Dera Ismail Khan, four khawarij were eliminated after an intense exchange of fire. The operation was launched on credible intelligence regarding the presence of the hostile group.

Separately, in Tank District, two more khawarij were killed in a similar engagement, while in Bagh area of Khyber District, security forces neutralized three additional individuals associated with the same network.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), weapons and ammunition were recovered from the sites, and khawarij had been “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities.”

The statement added that sanitization operations are currently underway to ensure the area is cleared of any remaining terrorist elements.

“Pakistan’s security forces remain fully committed to eradicating the threat of terrorism, particularly those linked to foreign-sponsored proxies aiming to destabilise the country,” the military spokesperson said.
