The United Nations Security Council has unequivocally condemned the terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, calling it a cowardly and barbaric act, and has urged swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a powerful statement issued by the Council and cited by Radio Pakistan, members expressed their deepest outrage over the “heinous and cold-blooded” assault that claimed the lives of at least six civilians, including four schoolchildren, and left 53 others wounded—39 of them students. The Council conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the Government of Pakistan, and the Pakistani people, along with sincere wishes for the full recovery of those injured.
“The Security Council reaffirms that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is one of the gravest threats to international peace and security,” the statement said, urging that those responsible—including the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors—must be held fully accountable and face justice.
The Council called on all member states to extend full cooperation to Pakistan in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions, emphasizing that no safe haven should exist for those who plan or support terrorist acts.
Reiterating its long-standing position, the Council stressed that terrorism, regardless of its purpose, location, or actors, is criminal and entirely unjustifiable. “There can be no justification—under any circumstances—for the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians, particularly children,” it noted.
The Security Council further underscored the obligation of all states to combat terrorism by all lawful means, in line with the UN Charter and international legal frameworks, including human rights law, refugee law, and international humanitarian law.
This latest statement reflects the international community’s resolute solidarity with Pakistan and its unwavering commitment to eliminating the scourge of terrorism from all corners of the world.
