Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that Israel provided significant support to India during recent hostilities, including the deployment of 150 trained Israeli personnel to India prior to the conflict.
In an exclusive conversation with senior journalists, Prime Minister Sharif stated that the decision to promote General Syed Asim Munir to Field Marshal was his own, although he consulted PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif before finalising any major decision.
Reflecting on the nature of war, the Prime Minister remarked, “In every war, one side wins and the other loses, but war is never a permanent solution. It is sustainable peace that guarantees a secure future.”
Sharif emphasized that any future talks between Pakistan and India on terrorism-related matters would be conducted through the National Security Advisers (NSAs) of both countries.
Regarding the conflict, the Prime Minister made a striking claim: “During the war, Israel extended extensive assistance to India. Before the fighting began, around 150 trained Israeli operatives arrived in India, and Israeli-made weapons were used in Srinagar and other locations.”
He further outlined four key issues that Pakistan would insist upon during any bilateral dialogue with India:
-
Kashmir,
-
Water resources,
-
Trade, and
-
Terrorism.
However, he added that India remains reluctant to include any third-party mediation in talks. “Engaging through a third country could be a positive step,” the Prime Minister noted, hinting at Pakistan’s openness to neutral ground for future negotiations.
