Pakistan, India Hold DGMOs-Level Contact to Discuss Restoration of Peace-Time Military Positions

Pakistan and India have re-established military-to-military contact through their respective Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) to discuss steps for de-escalation and restoration of normalcy along the borders, sources confirmed on Monday.

According to official sources, the DGMOs of both countries held a communication on Monday aimed at initiating the process of returning their armed forces to peace-time positions. The move is being seen as a crucial step in consolidating the recent ceasefire understandings between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Sources said the restoration of the pre-conflict positions of Pakistan and Indian forces is the next logical phase following the ceasefire agreement. The talks reflect a mutual desire to prevent further escalation and maintain stability along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary.

The development comes in the backdrop of heightened tensions that saw both militaries face off following aggressive posturing by India. However, recent contacts suggest a shift towards diplomatic and military engagement to defuse tensions.

This latest exchange marks the third DG MOs-level communication via hotline since the ceasefire took effect, signaling an ongoing commitment by both sides to uphold the truce and resolve military concerns through dialogue.
