India Got the Trailer, the Full Picture Is Yet to Come: Lt Gen (R) Abdul Qayyum

India, Pakistan, Youm-e-Tashakur, Day of Gratitude, Kashmir Issue

President of the Ex-Servicemen Society, Lieutenant General (Retired) Abdul Qayyum, has said that India’s dream of dividing Pakistan will never come true, declaring that “India has only seen the trailer — the full picture is yet to come.”

Speaking at a Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) event in Rawalpindi, Lt Gen (R) Qayyum strongly criticised India’s policies towards Pakistan, stating that New Delhi cannot unilaterally revoke the Indus Waters Treaty. He also emphasized that the resolution of the Kashmir issue must be in accordance with the United Nations Charter.

Accusing India of involvement in terrorism inside Pakistan, he highlighted past security challenges and praised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for making Pakistan “invincible” through the nuclear tests of 1998. “There were repeated attempts to demoralise our armed forces, but none succeeded,” he said.

He also lauded current Army Chief General Asim Munir for his leadership, stating that Pakistan’s military is now ranked among the top ten armies in the world. Referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Qayyum claimed that a suicide attack plan was thwarted, crediting Pakistan’s security apparatus for averting the crisis.

The retired general’s remarks come amid renewed tensions in the region and a broader discourse on national security, water rights, and the Kashmir conflict.
