Pakistan Will Utilize All Elements of National Power to Safeguard Its Water Rights: President Asif Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to protect its water rights, declaring that the country will employ all elements of national power to safeguard this vital resource.

In his message on the Day of Gratitude, observed in recognition of Pakistan’s resounding response to Indian aggression, President Zardari paid tribute to the armed forces for the success of Operation Bunyan-al-Marsous. He said the nation was celebrating this day to mark the remarkable triumph in the face of Indian hostilities.

“I salute the brave soldiers and commanders of our armed forces for their outstanding performance in Operation Bunyan-al-Marsous,” the President said, adding that the success belongs not only to the military but to the entire nation. “Our people stood united like a fortified wall against the enemy’s aggression.”

He praised the armed forces for responding with professional excellence and resolute strength to India’s provocations. “The world witnessed Pakistan’s restraint and acknowledged our operational capabilities,” he added.

President Zardari reiterated that Pakistan is a peaceful nation with no aggressive designs against any other state. “However, we will never compromise on our sovereignty or territorial integrity. Any aggression against our soil will be met with a resolute and powerful response.”

He categorically rejected India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, asserting that the treaty contains no provision for such a move. “Pakistan rejects this unlawful step and will utilize all elements of national power to secure its water rights,” he emphasized.

The President also paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in the defence of the motherland. “As President, I reaffirm our commitment to always stand shoulder to shoulder with our armed forces,” he said.

It may be recalled that in response to India’s military aggression during the night of May 6 and 7, Pakistan shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft. On May 10, Pakistan further asserted its sovereignty with a decisive response that not only drew global recognition but also raised critical voices within India.
