Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, has reaffirmed the province’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, declaring that law enforcement agencies will continue operations until the threat posed by “Fitna al-Khawarij” is completely dismantled.
Speaking to the media at Police Lines in Dera Ismail Khan, the IGP stated that his visit was primarily to offer condolences to the families of police personnel who were martyred in a recent tragic incident. “We will not leave the families of our martyrs alone. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten, and we will eliminate this menace,” he said.
The IGP revealed that police personnel had conducted a search operation in the area based on actionable intelligence. During the exchange of fire, officers displayed exceptional bravery, resulting in the elimination of four terrorists. He acknowledged that police officers face constant threats in the line of duty but emphasized their resolve and readiness to confront challenges head-on.
Highlighting ongoing security enhancements, the IGP noted that over the past year, the provincial government has provided 100 bulletproof vehicles to strengthen operational capacity. “We are further activating and modernizing our security framework. This is the era of technology, and we are adapting to effectively counter emerging threats,” he said, adding that the spirit of sacrifice remains strong among police personnel.
Addressing welfare measures, he confirmed that families of martyred officers are being provided with a comprehensive martyrs’ package, aligned with benefits extended across all security forces.
On the issue of illegal residency, the IGP stated that approximately 1.5 million Afghan nationals have been repatriated to Afghanistan. He reiterated that there is no space in Pakistan for individuals residing illegally and stressed that law enforcement agencies will continue to implement government directives in this regard.
The IGP also highlighted ongoing infrastructure development, including construction work on 14 police station buildings in Dera Ismail Khan, aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving public service delivery.
Concluding his remarks, Zulfiqar Hameed called upon the public to work collectively with law enforcement agencies. “Security is a shared responsibility. Together, with unity and cooperation, we will restore lasting peace and stability in the province,” he stated.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding citizens, honoring the sacrifices of its personnel, and continuing decisive operations against terrorist elements threatening peace and order.
