Eighteen terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH), the notorious Indian proxy network, have been eliminated in Surab district of Balochistan, after a terrorist-made Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) detonated prematurely, followed by a joint clearance operation by security forces and Balochistan Police.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident occurred on the morning of August 12, when a VBIED being prepared by terrorists detonated prematurely at a location in Surab.
The premature explosion eliminated eight terrorists at the site and injured several others. The blast also triggered a secondary detonation involving additional explosives stored at the location by the terrorists.
The explosions also caused tragic civilian casualties, with three civilians in the vicinity reportedly losing their lives.
Security forces and Balochistan Police immediately reached the site and launched a comprehensive joint clearance operation to track down the surviving terrorists and their facilitators.
During the operation, security forces detected terrorists attempting to flee the area. The fleeing terrorists were effectively engaged, resulting in the elimination of another 10 terrorists.
Thus, 18 Fitna al-Hindustan terrorists have been eliminated in the linked incidents so far, eight in the premature explosion and 10 during the subsequent security operation.
Two security personnel also sustained injuries during the intense exchange of fire.
Sanitization operations are continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining terrorists and facilitators and to ensure that no further threat remains.
The incident underscores the lethal consequences of terrorist networks preparing explosives for attacks against innocent civilians and security personnel. The terrorists’ own VBIED detonated before it could be deployed, while the subsequent security operation prevented fleeing terrorists of the network from escaping the area.
Under Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, security forces and law-enforcement agencies continue coordinated counter-terrorism operations across Pakistan.
The campaign will continue at full pace to dismantle terrorist networks and their facilitation mechanisms and to eliminate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
