U.S. Conducts Lethal Airstrikes on ISIS in Nigeria, Trump Warns of Further Action

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has stated that the United States carried out powerful and lethal airstrikes against ISIS-linked targets in northwestern Nigeria, describing the operation as a decisive response to ongoing attacks against Christian civilians in the region.

In a statement shared on social media, President Trump asserted that the targeted group was directly involved in violent assaults on Christian communities. He said U.S. forces successfully struck multiple objectives, emphasizing that the operation was both precise and effective. Trump reiterated his longstanding warning that attacks on Christian civilians would not be tolerated, adding that further actions would follow if such violence continues.

“I warned before, and I say it again today: if the targeting of Christian civilians does not stop, there will be more action,” the statement said.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also commented on the operation, expressing appreciation for the cooperation and support of the Nigerian government. He highlighted the importance of international partnerships in counterterrorism efforts and praised the coordination that enabled the strikes.

According to the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), the airstrikes resulted in the deaths of multiple ISIS militants. The command noted that the operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist networks, disrupt their operational capabilities, and protect vulnerable civilian populations in the region.

The announcement underscores the continued focus of U.S. military operations in Africa on combating extremist organizations and supporting regional partners in their fight against terrorism. While further operational details were not disclosed, U.S. officials emphasized that actions against terrorist groups would continue in coordination with allied governments to promote regional stability and civilian protection.
