The body of a senior militant commander has been recovered following a security operation in the Domel area of Bannu, adding another significant development to ongoing efforts aimed at dismantling militant networks in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to security sources, the deceased has been identified as Zewaran alias Badri, described as a key commander of a banned terrorist organization and wanted in multiple terror-related cases. His identification was confirmed after the operation, during which several militants were neutralized.
Officials said weapons and explosive material were recovered from the commander’s possession, reinforcing assessments that the group was actively involved in planning and facilitating violent activities in the region. The recovery of the body is being viewed as operationally important, as Zewaran alias Badri was believed to be playing a coordination role rather than operating at the lower level.
Security sources note that militant commanders increasingly avoid direct exposure, relying on dispersed cells and facilitators to sustain operations. The elimination and subsequent identification of such figures, therefore, carries strategic weight in disrupting command, communication, and morale within militant ranks.
The Domel area has witnessed repeated attempts by militants to regroup and exploit local terrain for movement and concealment. Authorities say sustained intelligence-led actions are being carried out to prevent the re-emergence of militant structures, particularly those linked to cross-district networks.
Law enforcement agencies reaffirmed that operations against militants and their support structures will continue, stressing that those involved in terrorism, whether as fighters, commanders, or facilitators, will be pursued under Pakistan’s counterterrorism laws.
