Security forces and police continued their targeted operation in Bannu for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday, eliminating six terrorists during raids on multiple terrorist hideouts, officials said.
According to police, the operation targeted the presence and movement of terrorists in different parts of the district. Acting on intelligence, security personnel conducted coordinated raids on several suspected locations, where six terrorists were eliminated after they resisted the advancing forces.
A large cache of weapons, ammunition and vehicles allegedly being used by the terrorists was recovered during the operation. Officials said the seized material would be examined as part of the ongoing investigation into terrorist networks operating in the area.
The district-wide operation, launched several days ago, has also resulted in the detention of more than 50 suspects. Authorities said those taken into custody are being interrogated to determine their possible links with terrorist groups and to identify facilitators and logistical support networks.
Police said the operation is progressing successfully and is being carried out in a phased and intelligence-driven manner to dismantle terrorist infrastructure while ensuring the safety of residents.
The operation follows recent security concerns in Bannu and forms part of broader efforts to eliminate terrorist elements from the district. Security officials have reiterated that operations will continue until all terrorist hideouts are cleared and those involved in acts of terrorism are brought to justice.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies, remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as authorities continue efforts to restore lasting peace and stability across the district.
