Reports from Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province suggest that a senior Taliban official, Maulvi Mehboobullah Hamid, who also serves in a provincial deputy governorship role in Ghor, has not reported to his official duties for more than a month.
Sources familiar with the matter say the official has been absent from his administrative responsibilities and has stopped routine reporting to his assigned post. Instead, he is reportedly spending time in the strategically significant Khostak Valley in Badakhshan, where he has been engaging in meetings with local communities.
The development comes amid a period in which the Taliban leadership continues to emphasize centralized authority and administrative discipline across government institutions.
At this stage, there is no official confirmation regarding the reasons for the absence, nor any publicly stated administrative action taken in response. However, the situation is being closely monitored due to its potential implications for internal coordination within Taliban ranks, particularly in northern Afghanistan.
