Security forces have killed four terrorists affiliated with a proscribed organization during an intelligence-based operation in Central Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security sources said on Thursday.
According to the sources, security forces received credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants linked to a banned terrorist outfit in the Dogar area of Central Kurram. Acting swiftly on the information, troops cordoned off the area and launched a targeted operation to neutralize the threat.
As the security forces began the cordon-and-search operation, the militants opened fire upon spotting the troops. The forces immediately took defensive positions and responded with effective and measured fire, resulting in the elimination of four terrorists after a brief exchange.
Security officials said the bodies of the killed militants were taken into custody, and efforts are under way to ascertain their identities and possible involvement in previous terrorist activities in the region. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site.
Following the operation, security forces tightened the cordon and accelerated a clearance operation in and around the area to rule out the presence of any remaining militants or facilitators. Surveillance and search activities remain ongoing as a precautionary measure.
It is pertinent to note that, barring Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the country’s mainstream political and military leadership remains united on a single page against terrorism, firmly adhering to a zero-tolerance policy. The state has reiterated its resolve to continue operations until the complete elimination of the last terrorist and the restoration of lasting peace.
