Security forces successfully defused an improvised explosive device (IED) allegedly planted by terrorists in the district headquarters of Wana in Lower South Waziristan, preventing a potential attack, according to sources.

The suspected explosive device was discovered beneath a road near the District Press Club, reportedly concealed in a floodwater channel. Following the discovery, the Bomb Disposal Squad of the security forces reached the scene and secured the area before initiating disposal procedures.

Sources said the explosive device was neutralized through a controlled detonation carried out by the Bomb Disposal Squad. The blast caused alarm among employees in nearby offices, although no casualties or damage were reported.

Before the controlled explosion, security personnel cordoned off the area and temporarily suspended traffic to ensure public safety. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident further to determine those responsible for planting the explosive device.
