Security forces neutralised twenty three India backed Khawarij terrorists in two separate intelligence based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. According to ISPR, security forces acted on credible intelligence regarding the presence of Khawarij militants at a location in Kurram. The area was cordoned off, leading to a fierce exchange of fire in which twelve terrorists were eliminated.
In a second operation, also based on precise intelligence, security forces targeted another group of Khawarij terrorists in the same district, killing eleven militants. ISPR said both operations were conducted to deny the terrorists freedom of movement and to clear the area of hostile elements. The search for additional India backed hideouts has been intensified.
ISPR added that counterterrorism efforts under Operation Azm- e- Istehkam will continue with full force and that Pakistan remains committed to rooting out all forms of foreign sponsored terrorism from its soil.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for the successful counterterrorism actions, stating that he and the entire nation stand firmly with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. The Prime Minister said that security forces are achieving significant successes under Azm e Istehkam and reaffirmed that the struggle will continue until the complete elimination of terrorism in Pakistan.
