Pakistan’s air-defence network successfully intercepted and brought down eight drones after they entered Pakistani airspace from the direction of Afghanistan, according to security sources.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, with four drones intercepted in areas adjoining the Torkham border and another four brought down in mountainous areas near the Kohat sector, the sources said.
According to security sources, the Pakistan Armed Forces’ active and vigilant air-defence system detected the incoming unmanned aerial platforms and responded promptly, successfully neutralising all eight drones. The timely response demonstrated the readiness and professional coordination of Pakistan’s armed forces and air-defence personnel in dealing with emerging aerial threats.
Security sources said the drones were part of an attempt to target public locations and populated areas inside Pakistan. The threat was neutralised before the unmanned systems could cause harm.
Of the eight drones intercepted, four were brought down in areas adjacent to the Torkham border, while the remaining four were intercepted in mountainous areas bordering the Kohat region. The incidents prompted heightened vigilance across sensitive areas, with security personnel maintaining continuous surveillance of the airspace and surrounding terrain.
The recovery and technical examination of the downed platforms will help authorities assess their origin, capabilities and intended purpose.
Security sources described the aerial incursions as another indication of what they characterised as direct support and facilitation of terrorist elements by the Afghan Taliban regime.

The latest aerial incursions come a day after Pakistan’s Armed Forces responded to what security sources described as provocative firing from positions across the border in the Kurram sector. According to the sources, Pakistani forces targeted and destroyed a number of Afghan Taliban positions and military outposts in response to the firing.
The developments underscore the heightened security environment along Pakistan’s western frontier, where security forces remain on continuous alert against both conventional and unconventional threats.
