Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Mamitan Khel area of Jani Khel in Bannu after receiving reports of terrorist presence, resulting in the killing of one terrorist and injuries to another.
According to security sources, the operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding the movement and hideout of terrorist elements in the area. During the engagement, security forces effectively targeted the location, leading to a brief exchange of fire.
One terrorist was killed on the spot while another sustained injuries. Search and clearance operations in the surrounding area were still underway at the time of reporting to ensure no further threats remained.
Officials said the operation is part of ongoing intelligence-driven efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent planned attacks against civilians and security personnel.
Meanwhile, in a powerful display of public solidarity, a large rally was held in Bannu condemning terrorism and expressing full support for the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies.
Participants from different walks of life took part in the rally, raising slogans against terrorism and pledging unwavering support for the country’s security institutions. The gathering reflected strong public resolve to stand alongside the armed forces in the fight against terrorism and to reject all forms of extremist violence.
Security officials noted that such public demonstrations of unity further strengthen national resolve and reinforce ongoing counterterrorism efforts in the region.
