Punjab Police Foil Major Terrorist Assault on Punjab–KPK Border

A major terrorist attack on a Punjab Police squad was successfully repulsed on the Punjab–Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border, after a heavily armed group of extremists attempted to infiltrate from the KPK side. According to police officials, between 18 and 20 terrorists launched the assault, but the swift and resolute response of Punjab Police personnel thwarted the attack before the militants could advance.

Initial reports indicate that the terrorists attempted to storm a security point near the interprovincial boundary, aiming to breach Punjab’s security perimeter. However, the alert Punjab Police squad immediately engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat after an intense exchange of fire. Officials confirmed that the militants were affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Punjab Police spokesperson said the force’s brave jawans demonstrated exceptional courage, maintaining their defensive positions under hostile fire and preventing the terrorists from making any headway. Their timely action not only protected the security post but also averted what authorities believe could have been a large-scale assault targeting law enforcement personnel and nearby civilian areas.

Additional police units and reinforcements were dispatched to secure the surrounding region, while intelligence teams have been mobilised to track the retreating militants and identify their facilitators. Senior police officials praised the professionalism and readiness of the frontline personnel, noting that the incident highlights ongoing cross-border threats and the need for heightened vigilance along interprovincial routes.

Security has been placed on high alert, and a coordinated operation is under way to ensure that no terrorist elements regroup or attempt a renewed incursion. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the province and stated that any attempt to destabilise peace will be met with a decisive and immediate response.
