Peshawar Corps emerged victorious in the 50th Chief of Army Staff Polo and Tent Pegging Championship 2025, showcasing outstanding skill and sportsmanship in one of Pakistan Army’s most prestigious sporting events.
The championship’s closing ceremony was held with grandeur, attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, who graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Upon arrival at the Jinnah Polo Fields, Field Marshal Munir was welcomed by the Corps Commander Lahore and the Chairman of the Pakistan Polo Federation, along with a large gathering of spectators that included the Interior Minister of Punjab and the Chief Secretary Punjab.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the championship reflects the Pakistan Army’s long-standing traditions of discipline, excellence, and commitment to sports. A total of eight teams participated in this year’s event, demonstrating a high level of competition and camaraderie. Peshawar Corps delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament, ultimately securing the championship, while Gujranwala Corps achieved second place.
During the closing ceremony, Field Marshal Munir personally presented awards to the winning team as well as to all participating teams, recognizing their dedication, talent, and spirit of fair play.
The Pakistan Army emphasized that such events not only promote physical fitness and competitive excellence but also strengthen teamwork, discipline, and the spirit of healthy competition among military personnel. The championship continues to serve as a hallmark of the Army’s commitment to fostering sportsmanship and preserving traditional games such as polo and tent pegging.
