Pakistan Steps Up Counterterrorism Campaign: Over 1,400 Militants Eliminated, Cross-Border Infiltrations Foiled in 2025

Pakistan’s security forces have intensified their nationwide counterterrorism campaign, eliminating more than 1,400 militants, including several high-value targets and foreign nationals, in a renewed and forceful drive against terrorism during 2025, according to official security sources.

The sources said that 1,422 militants have been killed in operations carried out across the country so far this year, among them 118 Afghan nationals, as security forces continue to dismantle militant networks and deny them any operational foothold. On average, around 126 operations are being conducted daily, while the total number of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) executed this year has reached 57,315.

The sustained operations have struck at the core of several major militant outfits, destroying their safe havens, logistical hubs, and arms depots, while a significant number of terrorists have also been apprehended alive. Officials said the campaign has not only weakened terrorist command structures but also restored a sense of security in areas previously affected by militancy.

According to compiled data, counterterrorism efforts have witnessed a steady escalation over the past four years. Security forces eliminated 1,018 terrorists in 2024, compared to 578 in 2023, 353 in 2022, and 190 in 2021, underscoring the growing scale and precision of Pakistan’s operations.

Security officials confirmed that among those neutralized were several most-wanted and high-profile militants, whose elimination has dealt a serious blow to terrorist leadership and coordination capabilities. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s forces also thwarted multiple cross-border infiltration attempts from Afghanistan, killing dozens of infiltrators and foiling several attacks through timely intelligence and rapid tactical response.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve, the officials emphasized that security forces remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism, securing national borders, and ensuring lasting peace and stability across the country through continued intelligence-driven operations.
