Pakistan Set to Launch Sweeping Crackdown on Banned Organizations

The Government of Pakistan has approved a comprehensive nationwide operation against banned organizations, following a high-level security meeting chaired by Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Interior. The meeting brought together senior law enforcement leadership, including the Inspector Generals (IGs) of Police from all four provinces.

During the session, police officials provided detailed briefings on the law-and-order situation across the country. Discussions focused on potential threats posed by banned groups, including the possible presence of ISIS (Daesh) operatives in Pakistan, highlighting the need for enhanced vigilance and proactive security measures.

The meeting also concentrated on developing strategic plans for operations targeting sleeper cells and clandestine networks of proscribed organizations. The proposed actions aim to disrupt the operational capabilities of these groups, prevent unlawful activities, and ensure the safety and security of citizens nationwide.

Minister Naqvi emphasized that effective policing in Islamabad and across the country requires constant alertness and professionalism. He reiterated that the police must maintain a strong, positive engagement with the public while strictly enforcing the law, leaving no place for misconduct or corruption within the force.

This announcement follows Minister Naqvi’s recent address at the Passing-Out Parade at the Police Lines in Islamabad, where he underlined the importance of maintaining public trust, operational readiness, and vigilance against security threats.

The Ministry of Interior and provincial police departments will coordinate closely to execute the nationwide operation, with continuous monitoring to evaluate its effectiveness and adapt strategies as needed. Authorities have assured the public that all measures will adhere to legal frameworks while prioritizing the protection of civilians and national security.
