In a significant counterintelligence success, Pakistan’s Sindh Police and a national security agency have arrested four operatives allegedly working for India’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), during a high-stakes joint operation in Karachi’s Quaidabad area. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Shoaib Memon disclosed that the arrested individuals were in direct and continuous contact with a serving Indian military intelligence officer, identified as Colonel Ranjit. He stated that the suspects were engaged in espionage activities aimed at undermining Pakistan’s internal security.
“The operatives were providing classified information regarding sensitive installations and strategic movements to a hostile foreign agency,” SSP Memon revealed. “Their objective was to compromise national security by aiding sabotage operations from within.”
During the raid, security forces seized four hand grenades, a pistol, and a vehicle used by the suspects. Preliminary investigations suggest that the network was actively collecting intelligence on high-value targets across Karachi and had already passed on critical information to their handlers.
According to SSP Memon, the suspects have confessed to their involvement in hostile intelligence operations and, under interrogation, have identified several intended targets. These revelations have prompted wider investigations into potential sleeper cells and accomplices across urban centers.
This operation is being hailed as a decisive blow to foreign-sponsored subversive efforts in Pakistan. Authorities emphasized that the arrests demonstrate the state’s unwavering resolve to neutralize threats to national sovereignty and ensure the safety of its critical infrastructure.
Further investigations are ongoing, with intelligence agencies pursuing leads to dismantle the broader espionage network linked to foreign adversaries.
