According to local sources, mortars were fired from across the border targeting locations near Status Zargaran village, Bacha Mina Torkham and Sarkai hills.
There are no confirmed human casualties so far, although a stray dog was killed by a bullet in Zargaran. The sudden bombardment has spread fear and alarm among local residents.
Security officials said that following the cross-border firing, Pakistani forces responded with a strong and effective retaliatory response to secure the area and prevent further spillover.
