Kurram Sector: Afghan Infiltration Exposed, Armed Khawarij Apprehended with Weapons and Explosive-Making Material

In a significant success for Pakistan’s security and law-enforcement agencies, an armed Afghan national attempting to infiltrate into Pakistan from Afghanistan has been apprehended in the Upper Kurram sector, exposing yet another attempted cross-border infiltration by an armed Khawarij network.

According to security sources, the apprehended individual was part of a terrorist formation attempting to cross into Pakistani territory from Afghanistan. While one armed infiltrator was successfully apprehended, the remaining members of the formation failed to cross the border, foiling their infiltration attempt.

The apprehended individual has been identified as Qari Waqas alias Quddoos, a resident of Spin Ghar, Afghanistan. During preliminary interrogation, he reportedly disclosed that he had entered Pakistan with the intention of joining the Khawarij Kazim Group, further highlighting the continued threat posed by cross-border terrorist networks.

A substantial quantity of arms and other incriminating material was recovered from his possession. The recovered items included a submachine gun, four magazines and 88 rounds of ammunition. A notebook containing notes about various locations and techniques related to bomb-making was also recovered, raising serious concerns about the intended activities and operational objectives of the infiltrator.

The recovery of weapons, ammunition and material related to explosive-making techniques provides further evidence of the security threat associated with the attempted infiltration. It also underscores the importance of maintaining heightened vigilance along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border to prevent armed elements from exploiting cross-border routes to enter Pakistani territory.

The successful apprehension reflects the alertness and operational effectiveness of Pakistan’s law-enforcement agencies in detecting and thwarting infiltration attempts. The incident also reinforces the need for effective border management and concrete action against armed networks operating from across the border.

Interrogation of the apprehended Afghan national is currently underway to establish further details about his intended targets, possible accomplices, infiltration routes and links with the Khawarij network.
