The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have submitted a draft proposal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, seeking an additional Rs25 billion for security and counterterrorism requirements in 12 designated districts of the province.

According to the police documents, the proposed funding is intended to strengthen operational capacity through the procurement of weapons, ammunition, armored vehicles, transport and surveillance equipment, alongside additional resources for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The proposal seeks Rs2.406 billion for weapons and ammunition, while Rs3.664 billion has been requested for transport, armoring and armored personnel carriers (APCs). It also includes Rs1.33 billion for the procurement of 140 single-cabin 4×4 vehicles.

A substantial portion of the proposed allocation is earmarked for the CTD. The police have sought Rs10.3 billion for the department and another Rs5.33 billion for its regional offices and district-level setups. An additional Rs205 million has been requested for 82 CTD surveillance vehicles.

The proposed amount is being sought over and above the police department’s existing budget allocation. The request reflects the additional operational and logistical requirements identified by the provincial police for security and counterterrorism activities in the 12 designated districts.
