In a series of audacious attacks aimed at destabilizing key regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, militants from the Khawarij group launched a wave of terror across Peshawar, Khyber, and Bannu districts. However, thanks to the swift and coordinated response by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, all attempts were successfully thwarted, preventing what could have been a major escalation in violence and loss of life.
The attacks, which took place in the dead of night between Friday and Saturday, involved the Khawarij militants targeting police installations using a variety of tactics, including hand grenades, sniper rifles, and assault weapons. The first incident occurred at Badhber Police Station in Peshawar, where a hand grenade was thrown, injuring Head Constable Faisal. Moments later, another hand grenade exploded at the Sira Khawara Police Post in Matani, injuring a civilian. Despite these injuries, the police acted quickly and effectively, forcing the militants to retreat.
In District Khyber, militants targeted the Takiya Police Check Post in Bara, throwing a hand grenade. Fortunately, no lives were lost, and the attackers were repelled after a swift police response. The violence escalated in District Bannu, where police posts at Kanger Pul and Kashto Pul were attacked by snipers and armed militants. Despite the danger, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police engaged in a prolonged 15-minute firefight, forcing the attackers to abandon their mission.
The prompt and resolute actions of the police ensured that all attacks were neutralized and prevented the Khawarij militants from achieving their objectives. The quick deployment of resources and tactical countermeasures underscores the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s state of preparedness and their ability to handle complex and high-pressure situations.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hamid, commended the courage and professionalism of the officers involved in these operations. He praised their rapid response and tactical efficiency, which he described as a clear reflection of their unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the citizens. “The bravery and efficiency demonstrated by our officers in confronting these cowardly attacks were instrumental in protecting both our personnel and the public. These Khawarij militants may seek to create terror, but they will never succeed in shaking the resolve of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police,” said IGP Hamid.
He added, “The Khawarij may rely on stealth and ambush tactics, but when faced with the full force of our police, they have no choice but to flee. Their cowardice is evident, and their efforts to disrupt peace are futile.”
The IGP further assured the public that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police would continue to relentlessly pursue the eradication of the Khawarij and all other extremist elements in the region. “We will not be deterred by these cowardly attacks. Our mission is clear to ensure the safety of every citizen and to eliminate the threat of extremism once and for all,” he affirmed.
He also wished Head Constable Faisal and the injured civilian a speedy recovery, emphasizing that despite the challenges posed by such attacks, the morale of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police remains high.
“These attacks will not break our resolve. We are committed to protecting the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and we will continue to do so with determination and courage,” concluded IGP Hamid.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police force remains resolute in its efforts to safeguard the province against all forms of extremism. Their swift actions in preventing these terrorist attacks stand as a testament to their professionalism, preparedness, and unwavering commitment to public safety.
