Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, today closely inspected two refurbished Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) at the Central Police Office, marking a significant enhancement in the province’s fight against terrorism. These APCs, overhauled at Heavy Industries Taxila, are set to strengthen police operations in the high-risk districts of Upper and Lower Dir, where security forces continue to battle insurgent groups like Fitna al-Khawarij.

The inspection ceremony was attended by senior officials including the Additional IGP Operations, Special Branch, Headquarters, Training, Investigation, DIG Finance, and Telecommunication. The IGP thoroughly examined the APCs and was briefed on the technical upgrades made, expressing satisfaction with the improved operational capabilities of the vehicles.

Following the inspection, the keys to the APCs were formally handed over to the District Police Officers of Upper Dir, Syed Muhammad Bilal, and Lower Dir, Abdul Salam Khalid. These armored vehicles are expected to significantly enhance the operational effectiveness of police personnel deployed against terrorist threats in these volatile districts, enabling safer patrolling and rapid response in sensitive areas.

Under the proactive leadership of IGP Zulfiqar Hameed, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police are undergoing a comprehensive modernisation program. This initiative includes equipping the force with new and advanced weapons and equipment, alongside refurbishing older assets to meet current operational requirements. Sending the APCs for refurbishment at Heavy Industries Taxila is part of this ongoing effort to ensure police forces remain well-prepared to counter the persistent terror threats in the region.

The skilful engineers and technicians at Heavy Industries Taxila have successfully restored these previously non-functional APCs to full operational status, integrating modern technological standards. This upgrade reflects the province’s commitment to reinforcing its frontline security apparatus against insurgent activities and safeguarding the lives of both officers and civilians.
